Toledo Traipsing

A weekend in Madrid. A day trip to Toledo. Stumbling upon a monument and discovering the prettiest and most peaceful courtyard imaginable. And who would have imagined there would be a ceramics exhibition upstairs?! Here are some brief snaps from the day.

According to the description, the piece on the right is a spice dispenser. I’ve seen a few of these in museums before but never known what they were. I’d love to make a project out of this concept and bring back a new wave of geometric salt/pepper/spice table accoutrements.

I love the speckly mottled effect of the glaze on the two left pieces. Reminds me of a Jackson Pollock-esque brush technique.

I guess this is a seemingly insignificant piece from the collection but something about its wide conical neck and thin vertical handles makes it really appealing and sweet.
